Company announces contributions to local nonprofit
RICHMOND, Virginia (October 1, 2018) – CarMax, Inc. (NYSE: KMX), the nation’s largest retailer of used cars, is now open for business in Wilmington, North Carolina, the company’s 11th store location in the state. The Wilmington store is located at 6030 Market Street, and has the capacity to stock approximately 200 used vehicles of nearly every make and model. CarMax customers can also request transfers of almost any vehicle to this store from other CarMax locations throughout the country.
CarMax is dedicated to helping Wilmington recover from Hurricane Florence and has donated $30,000 to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, an organization selected at the recommendation of the Wilmington CarMax associates. $10,000 in donations and grants were initially part of CarMax’s celebration of opening the new store, and an additional $20,000 was funded to support relief efforts following Hurricane Florence.
In addition, CarMax is a national American Red Cross Disaster Responder Partner and annually donates $250,000 to ensure immediate response to those affected by disasters big and small. This support enables the Red Cross to respond quickly to disasters like Hurricane Florence.
