Company contributes more than $200,000 to the local community
RICHMOND, Virginia (December 10, 2015) – CarMax, Inc. (NYSE: KMX), the nation’s largest retailer of used cars, today celebrated the grand opening of its first stores in the Boston area located in Norwood and Danvers. A third location is opening in Westborough during the summer of 2016. The Danvers and Norwood stores are located at 161 Andover Street and 1230 Boston Providence Turnpike. The Westborough store will be located at 170 Turnpike Road. Each store will stock between 200-400 used vehicles of nearly every make and model.
“This is a homecoming for me,” said Tom Folliard, president and CEO of CarMax. “I was born and raised in Boston, so it is extremely rewarding that CarMax is able to bring jobs to the Boston community, grow the local economy, contribute to local nonprofits and introduce Bostonians to the unique CarMax experience.”
During today’s grand opening celebration, CarMax announced that The CarMax Foundation will invest approximately $95,000 into building a playground in the Boston area. The playground is expected to be built in summer of 2016 through a partnership with KaBOOM!, the national nonprofit ensuring that all kids get the balance of play they need to become healthy and successful adults.

CarMax and The CarMax Foundation also announced community giving to City Year Boston, United South End Settlements and Cradles to Crayons. CarMax is the official used car retailer of the New England Patriots and is donating $80,000 to the New England community in honor of local community heroes who bring the Bright Side to their community through volunteer work and commitment to helping others. These contributions total more than $200,000 to nonprofits in the Boston community. The CarMax Foundation has granted more than $25 million on behalf of associates across the country since 2003.
