Company celebrates 150th store milestone with donations to local communities
RICHMOND, Virginia (June 18, 2015) – CarMax, Inc. (NYSE: KMX), the nation’s largest retailer of used cars, today celebrated the grand opening of its third and fourth stores in the Denver area and a key milestone of 150 stores nationwide. CarMax’s Loveland store is located at 3760 Byrd Drive and is the latest addition to the Motorplex at Centerra, the largest auto center in Northern Colorado located within the Centerra master-planned community. The Parker store is located at 1822 Ponderosa Drive and is located about half a mile west of the intersection at South Parker Road and Lincoln Avenue. Each store will stock more than 250 used vehicles of nearly every make and model.
“The fact that CarMax now operates 150 stores nationwide says a lot about our company’s reputation with our customers," said Brian Flonnes, location general manager of the Parker CarMax store. “With more than 20 years of experience, we know what customers are looking for when shopping for that perfect vehicle – a transparent, no-haggle experience topped with great customer service."
To celebrate these new Denver stores, The CarMax Foundation will invest approximately $85,000 into building a playground in the Denver area. The playground will be built in the fall of 2015 through a partnership with KaBOOM!, the national nonprofit ensuring that all kids get the balance of play they need to become healthy and successful adults. This will be the second playground in the Denver area, and they are among the 30 playgrounds The CarMax Foundation and KaBOOM! are building nationwide as part of a larger $4.1 million national partnership.
“The new playground will provide children the needed space to be healthy and active," said Tyler Wildman, location general manager of the Loveland CarMax store. “CarMax associates care deeply about giving back to their communities, which is an important part of the CarMax culture."
CarMax and The CarMax Foundation also are awarding $30,000 in donations and grants to various nonprofits in the Parker and Loveland communities, including SECOR (Southeast Community Outreach), Aurora Family YMCA, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Larimer County. These contributions came at the recommendation of local CarMax associates. The CarMax Foundation has granted more than $25 million on behalf of associates across the country since 2003.
