Company Celebrates with Community Donations
RICHMOND, VIRGINIA (September 15, 2015) – CarMax, Inc. (NYSE: KMX), the nation’s largest retailer of used cars, officially opened its first store in Richmond, Texas, located at 21939 Southwest Freeway. The Richmond store is CarMax’s sixth store in the Houston area. The store is more than 50,000 square-feet, occupies more than 15 acres and stocks more than 300 used vehicles.
In celebration of the store opening, CarMax donated $5,000 to Rosenburg-Richmond Helping Hands, Inc. Richmond CarMax associates selected this nonprofit for its dedication to providing area residents with food, clothes and basic necessities during times of crisis. CarMax associates recently volunteered with the organization by helping portion meals for delivery, stock non-perishable items for the food pantry, sort clothes and organize storage areas at the clothes closet.
The CarMax Foundation also awarded a $10,000 grant to T.W. Davis Family YMCA to fund the YMCA Outreach program that provides at-risk youth access to after-school and summer programs at no charge. The CarMax Foundation has granted more than $25 million on behalf of associates across the country since 2003.
