CarMax Recommends Five Ways to Battle Allergens Inside and Out
RICHMOND, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May. 7, 2013--
Allergy season is in full swing and CarMax, Inc. (NYSE: KMX), the
nation’s largest retailer of used vehicles, is helping drivers battle
sneezing, sniffling and itchy eyes by giving them ways to reduce pollen
and allergens inside and outside your vehicle.
“Layers of thick yellow pollen can affect the outside of your car but
drivers often miss how it can also get on the inside, too,” said Senior
Buyer, Jimmy Lane. “Something as simple as vacuuming your car can help
reduce the affects of allergens.”
CarMax recommends these car care tips during spring allergy season:
1. Vacuum your car once every two weeks. This includes all carpeted
areas and cloth seats.
2. Wash and dust your car. This will take care of any lingering
allergens on the paneling, steering wheel and dashboard.
3. Check and change your cabin air filter. Replace this once a year or
every 12,000 to 15,000 miles, whichever comes first.
4. Keep your windows rolled up and use the recirculation cycle when the
air conditioner is on.
5. Check the weather stripping around your vehicle’s widows to make sure
there are no leaks.
The
Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America states that one in five
Americans suffer from allergies making it the fifth leading chronic
disease in America.
