Company Celebrates with “Road Rally for Charity” Event

RICHMOND, Va. (February 21, 2013) - CarMax, Inc., (NYSE: KMX), the nation’s largest retailer of used cars, officially opened its second auto superstore in Jacksonville, Fla. today. The store, located at 7438 Blanding Blvd, is more than 13,000 square-feet, employs more than 50 associates and stocks about 250 used vehicles of nearly every make and model.

“Jacksonville has been a great home to CarMax over the last eight years, and we are excited to open a second store,” said Tom Folliard, president and CEO of CarMax. “Our Blanding Boulevard store will bring customers the same exceptional service by providing a unique car buying experience that is easy, fun and hassle free.”

Local dignitaries and CarMax associates attended a grand opening event at the new Jacksonville location today. The event included a “Road Rally” for charity featuring local television personalities competing in contests, which included parallel-parking and pack-the-trunk events. CarMax donated $1,000 to each participant’s charity, and the winner’s charity received an additional $1,000.

The CarMax Road Rally participants and their charity of choice included WTEV 47/WAWS 30 Action News anchors Lynnsey Gardner and Mike Barz (both sponsoring Duval County Special Olympics) as well as WCTV (CW) 17 “Local Haunts” host Steve Christian (sponsoring Muscular Dystrophy Association).
