Company Makes List Fifth Consecutive Year
RICHMOND, Va., Feb 14, 2012 (BUSINESS WIRE) --CarMax, Inc. (NYSE: KMX), the nation's largest retailer of used
cars, has been named for the fifth straight year to Training
magazine's Training Top 125. CarMax moved up four spots to No. 28 this
year.
Training magazine, the leading business publication for learning
and development professionals, annually selects 125 organizations that
excel at associate development. These companies are chosen based on
criteria such as best training practices, evaluation methods and
outstanding training initiatives.
"This honor recognizes the team who creates and facilitates the
training, as well as all of the managers, mentors, and subject matter
experts who contribute and support our company training programs," said
Tom Folliard, president and chief executive officer of CarMax. "As we
grow as a company, associate development is a top priority at every
level."
During the past year, the company has launched and expanded major
training and assessment initiatives. Among the most recent to be
introduced is Talent Tree, CarMax's new talent management system. It
enables the company to highlight development companywide, centralize
performance data, and better prepare for succession planning.
On average, each CarMax associate completes more than 70 hours of
training per year. Through KMX University, CarMax's learning management
system, associates can view position development plans, launch online
courses, register for classroom training, print self-paced training
workbooks, take exams that automatically register course completions,
add self-reported training, and review their own personal training
histories.
