Company Also Introduces New Community Service Award

RICHMOND, Va., Jun 01, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) --CarMax, Inc. (NYSE: KMX), the nation's largest retailer of used cars, today kicks off volunteer efforts across the United States to support the communities where our associates live and work. During June, hundreds of CarMax associates are volunteering in teams for non-profit organizations, such as Boys & Girls Clubs, Ronald McDonald House, and American Cancer Society.

Volunteer teams are dedicating their time and energy throughout the month of June, also known as CarMax Cares Month, with local and nationwide organizations. Their activities include work with animal shelters, helping at food banks, and reading to local children, as well as providing summer camp assistance.

The CarMax Foundation's standard Volunteer Team-Builder Program grants $500 to participating non-profit organizations. The Foundation is doubling grants to the non-profits for associate volunteer team-builders to $1,000 in June on behalf of the hardworking teams supporting their local communities.

"CarMax teams are passionate about having a positive impact on their communities," said Dodie Fix, president of The CarMax Foundation and assistant vice president of procurement. "Volunteers get to know each other outside of a work environment while making a lasting impression on local non-profit organizations."

New this year, The CarMax Foundation has introduced a CarMax Cares Community Service Award that will be given to associates who go above and beyond in their commitment to volunteering in the local community, either through leading CarMax philanthropic efforts or through their personal dedication to local charities. Winners will be announced in the fall and The CarMax Foundation will make a grant of $5,000 to an eligible charity of their choice.
