RICHMOND, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jun. 8, 2009--
CarMax, Inc. (NYSE: KMX), the nation’s largest retailer of used
cars, added the crossover
vehicle type in mid-April as a specific searchable term on carmax.com.
Clicks to the new vehicle type have increased during its first month of
availability. Crossovers are vehicles that combine the utility and space
of an SUV or minivan with the drive and handling ease of a sedan.
Crossovers often have a lower roof height than a typical SUV or minivan
and generally achieve better gas mileage.
Familiar crossover vehicles include the Toyota RAV 4, the Chrysler
Pacifica and the Honda Pilot. One crossover, the Toyota
Highlander, made it into the top 20 searched vehicles on carmax.com
for May, landing at 15. Currently there are more than 4,750 crossover
vehicles listed on carmax.com.
“The ability to search by crossover vehicle type gives shoppers on
carmax.com 12 vehicle types to choose from within the
CarMax inventory when searching for their next car,” said
Ann
Yauger
, director of carmax.com. “The increase in searches for crossover
vehicles on carmax.com indicates the growing popularity of the crossover
category.”
The CarMax
website can be used to research
information on new and used cars, including crossovers
of various makes and models. The website showcases vehicles with
multiple photos, the no-haggle price, and information on features,
options, fuel
economy and customer
reviews.
