Mr. Barr serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of CarMax, Inc. He oversees the company’s day-to-day operations and leads the management team in executing strategic and financial priorities. He also sets the near- and long-term company strategy. Mr. Barr has a long and successful track record leading consumer-centric companies, with proven experience in brand-led growth and transformation initiatives. He previously served as Chief Executive Officer of InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (“IHG”), one of the world’s largest hospitality companies, from July 2017 through June 2023. During his tenure as its CEO, Mr. Barr led the expansion of IHG’s global portfolio of brands spanning luxury, premium, and essential segments, advanced IHG’s digital and loyalty value propositions, created significant value for shareholders, and oversaw exceptional growth in the company’s global footprint. Prior to becoming CEO, Mr. Barr served as IHG’s Chief Commercial Officer, where he held global responsibility for brands, sales, marketing, revenue management, loyalty functions and the consumer digital strategy. He joined IHG in 2000 and beforehand held several senior positions at Bristol Hotels and Resorts, which was acquired by IHG. Mr. Barr is also a director of MGM Resorts International. He joined the CarMax board in March 2026.
