CarMax Now Selling Cars Online in Tennessee

March 03, 2020

Customers may choose home delivery or in-store pick-up

RICHMOND, Virginia (March 3, 2020) – CarMax, Inc. (NYSE: KMX), the nation’s largest retailer of used cars, today announces its new personalized car buying experience is now available to Tennesseans. Customers living in the Volunteer State within a 60-mile radius of CarMax stores in Nashville, Chattanooga, Knoxville and Memphis can now buy a car online and have it delivered. More than 50,000 vehicles are available online for purchase and CarMax’s return policy lets customers return the car for any reason within seven days of purchase for a full refund.

For Tennesseans who prefer to visit a CarMax store, CarMax is also offering the option of expedited pickup. This gives customers the flexibility to do most of the car buying process online and ultimately spend less time in-store when they arrive to pick up the car. Customers also have the option to test drive the car prior to purchase. In a world where consumers can buy almost anything from anywhere, CarMax continues to make the car buying journey easy and painless with this new offering.

“The future of car buying is a personalized experience that empowers customers to buy a car on their terms – at home, in-store, or any combination of both,” said Bill Nash, CarMax president and CEO. “We’re delivering on an unmet customer need for a car buying experience that is flexible, convenient, and completely tailored to each customer.”

CarMax customers in Tennessee can do the following:

  • Find a car and buy it online, including financing, trade-in and paperwork, without visiting the store.
  • Have their vehicle delivered directly to their home or workplace if they live within a 60-mile radius of a CarMax store in Nashville, Chattanooga, Knoxville and Memphis.
  • Return the car within seven days for a full refund.
  • A combination of online and in-store shopping, including expedited pickup at the store for customers who choose to complete some of the car-buying process from home. Customers may also opt to visit the store and take the car on a test drive prior to purchase.
  • Get help from CarMax associates in-person and via phone, text or email, at any point in the purchase and financing process.

The announcement of this new offering comes as CarMax recently opened a new store in Murfreesboro on February 26 – the company’s fourth store in the Nashville area and 10th in the state. CarMax Murfreesboro employs more than 100 associates. In addition to selling cars, the store also serves as a production location responsible for reconditioning vehicles and preparing them for sale at CarMax stores across the region.

CarMax disrupted the industry more than 25 years ago by offering a high integrity car-buying experience customers want that’s transparent and stress-free. Since that time, CarMax has continued to revolutionize the experience through customer-focused technology innovations. CarMax has a nationwide inventory of approximately 50,000 vehicles and CarMax stands behind their vehicles with a 7-Day Money-Back Guarantee and a limited warranty that covers a vehicle’s major systems for 90 days or 4,000 miles, whichever comes first.
