Company announces contributions to two local nonprofits

RICHMOND, Virginia (February 16, 2017) – CarMax, Inc. (NYSE: KMX), the nation’s largest retailer of used cars, today celebrated the grand opening of its new store in Mobile, located at 965 East I-65 Service Road South. The Mobile CarMax has the capacity to stock approximately 200 used vehicles of nearly every make and model. Customers can also request a transfer to Mobile of almost any vehicle from CarMax’s nationwide inventory of nearly 50,000 cars.

In celebration of the Mobile store opening, CarMax donated $2,500 to Feeding the Gulf Coast that will provide more than 12,000 meals to those in need along the Central Gulf Coast. CarMax associates recently volunteered with the nonprofit and nominated it to receive the donation after seeing its great work within the community.

The CarMax Foundation is also providing a $5,000 grant to the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Alabama (“BGCSA”). Funding from the grant will be used to support and expand BGCSA’s Project Learn Educational Enhancement Program and will benefit local children and teens among six club locations. Support for the BGCSA also came at the recommendation of the Mobile associates.

“CarMax associates care deeply about the communities where we live and work and make it a priority to give back,” said Jason Colbert, location general manager at CarMax Mobile. “This is the first CarMax location in the Mobile area and we look forward to providing local customers with CarMax’s easy buying experience and no-haggle pricing.”

CarMax was founded more than 20 years ago to fundamentally change the way car buying is done. CarMax customers can shop for nearly every make and model at our stores or online at carmax.com, with prices clearly listed for each of our nearly 50,000 vehicles nationwide. In addition, we stand behind our vehicles with a 5-Day Money-Back Guarantee and a 30-Day Limited Warranty (60-Day in CT, MN & RI, 90-Day in MA, NY and NJ). The CarMax Foundation has granted more than $35 million on behalf of associates across the country since 2003.
